We went away for the weekend, me and our Cu to this incredible house in the Kent countryside that used to belong to Mr Lyle of the Tate and Lyle sugar and golden syrup fame. It was a weekend designed for christian union committees to learn more about their roles and also, as we discovered, ourselves. We had some pretty intense talks on the disciplines of our own characters, referring to Samson and how he managed to live through God but not with God. Turned out to be very eye opening in how we should be working on our own characters and become so much more like Jesus. We forget that sometimes don’t we? We forget what a massive impact we have the potential to be around everyone else, christians just as much as non christians. We forget that people watch our actions idle or alive in Jesus and we need to be watching our own characters in order to be furthering the Kingdom of God. It’s all for God’s glory, never for our own.
